THE Constitutional Court yesterday reversed the High Court’s decision to nullify the election of Nkandu Luo as Munali Member of Parliament (MP).
The verdict comes barely a fortnight after the same court overturned the High Court’s decision to invalidate the election of Margaret Mwanakatwe as Lusaka Central MP.
In the case of Professor Luo, Constitutional Court Judge Enock Mulembe ruled that the lawmaker, who is Minister of Higher Education, was duly elected in the 2016 general elections.
This is a matter in which Prof Luo challenged the High Court’s decision to quash her election on appeal by losing United Party for National Development candidate Doreen Mwamba.
