ZAMBIA’S agriculture sector got a major boost yesterday following the commissioning of Mwomboshi Dam, which President Edgar Lungu called a game-changer.
But while impressed with the construction of the dam that will bring over 4,000 hectares under irrigation, the President took to task Minister of Agriculture Michael Katambo on why some people displaced by the building of the dam have not yet been compensated.
President Lungu further wondered why the dam was being handed over to Government when supporting infrastructure such as schools, six bridges and a police post have not yet been completed.
Speaking yesterday during a debriefing before the handover of the dam to Government, President Lungu directed the Ministry of Agriculture to compensate everyone that has been affected by the project.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
