Lungu plants Zambia’s future

President Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu was in Chinsali District of Muchinga Province where he launched THE ZAMBIA PLANT A MILLION TREES initiative under the theme:

PRESIDENT Lungu has called for a mindset change among Zambians to begin to value the importance of planting trees as a tool for economic diversification.
“This initiative marks the beginning of growing money through trees and the PF government stands ready to support this initiative,” he said.
Mr Lungu said Zambians should take an active role in planting tree species such as pine, moringa and solid bamboo to help build a tree-based economy for sustainable food, job and wealth creation.
He said trees are an essential natural resource to any economy as they provide food, wood, construction materials, habitation for wildlife and climate regulation, among others.
The head of State said this here yesterday at Kapasa Makasa University when he launched the Zambia: Plant a Million Trees Initiative.
