STEVEN MVULA, Lusaka
PRESIDENT Lungu has called for unity of purpose among central committee members as they meet over the weekend to deliberate on various party matters to ensure the
ruling party remains a force to reckon with.
And Lusaka Province youth chairman Kennedy Kamba yesterday led President Lungu in interacting with youths who gathered at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport to welcome him from Swaziland where he had gone for a three-day visit.
The central committee is the highest decision-making body of the Patriotic Front and is chaired by the President.
“I expect openness and candidness on a number of issues. We are all members of the central committee and we are coming together as brothers and sisters. Let’s talk about our party,” President Lungu said.
President Lungu said he is ready to listen to all the issues which some members have raised outside the ambit of the central committee.
“I hope all members of the central committee will come. That’s the ultimate place where they can tell us their views on who are doing fine, who are failing,” President Lungu said.
President Lungu said if the members get divided, they will pick up the pieces and move on because it is normal in politics.
However, President Lungu warned that those with an agenda to disrupt the party from within will be “sorted out”.
