PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu and United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema have met and committed themselves to unconditionally support a Church-led national dialogue and reconciliation process.
This is according to a joint communique issued yesterday by Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) president George Zulu, Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) chairperson Paul Mususu and Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) president Sydney Sichilima.
The church mother bodies facilitated the meeting between President Lungu and Mr Hichilema, which took place on November 12 in Lusaka.
“The two leaders expressed unconditional support to an all-inclusive and Church-led national dialogue and reconciliation process. They assured the Church of their availability and commitment to future direct engagements,” the communique reads in part.
