Lungu challenges Africa on fake drugs

PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has urged African leaders to show political will in curbing counterfeit drugs and other undesirable medical products which are dumped on the continent.
The head of State said less effective, substandard and fake products pose life-threatening side effects and are a drain on economies of African countries.
He was speaking yesterday when he addressed delegates to the high-level meeting on the sidelines of the 73rd United Nations General Assembly.
This was in a speech read for him by Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya.
The high-level meeting was held on the theme ‘The fight for quality medicines in Africa: Stopping falsified substandard medicines’.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
