Letter to the Editor

Lunga deserves uplifting

Dear editor,
I READ an article in the Zambia Daily Mail on the suffering of the people of the new district called Lunga in Zambia.
The story makes me sad and I wonder whether any effort has been made to bring development to this new district.
The Minister of Health, Chitalu Chilufya, should also ensure that a health facility is constructed for the people of Lunga.
It is sad that for a patient to access health care they need to paddle for four hours to reach Samfya.
As a citizen, I am duty-bound to ensure that people’s representatives perform according to expectations. People vote for MPs to represent them in Parliament so that their challenges are addressed and development delivered to their constituencies.
It is disappointing that despite voting for representatives in Parliament, people in Lunga live like they have no representation.
