THE 2016 Zambian Woman of the Year Rising Star award winner Lulu Wood has been named the first ever United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) Zambia Goodwill ambassador.
UNAIDS country director Medhin Tsehaiu said Ms Wood was given the title last Wednesday and will serve for two years.
Ms Wood described her appointment as “truly humbling” pledging to do her best in her new role.
“It is truly humbling to be entrusted with this new role. As a Zambian woman in this position, I have the privilege of standing in between the two worlds: the people of my country and the knowledge and experience that will be shared with me by an organisation [UNAIDS] that has more than 20 years’ experience in the fight against AIDS,” Ms Wood who is also media and communications consultant announced in a message posted on her official Facebook page.
