SYLVESTER CHISHIMBA, Lusaka
ZAMBIA Army deputy commander Major General Topply Lubaya has commended the defence forces for their continued efforts in fostering peace and security.
He was speaking in Lusaka on Friday night when he officiated at the 30th Anniversary celebration of Zambia Army and Zambia National Service (ZNS) intake 14/86 and 15/87 specialists.
Maj Gen Lubaya said the journey which the officers embarked upon 30 years ago has proved beneficial not only to the Zambia Army and ZNS but to the nation at large.
“You have made invaluable contributions to the system which made you what you are today and endured the challenges that come with both the service call to duty and uphold high standards of professionalism,” he said.
Maj Gen Lubaya called upon the officers of intake 14/86 and 15/87 to share their vast military knowledge and experience with their subordinates.
“It is your duty to teach them all matters pertinent to their careers, ranging from military arts and sciences, to customs and etiquette. You are also charged with the responsibility of giving guidance to young officers in their daily lives because you are the reservoir of knowledge and wisdom,” he said.
Maj Gen Lubaya reminded the officers to always adhere to the rules and regulations of the defence forces as they conduct their daily duties.
“Discipline is the cornerstone of the military and therefore you are all expected to exhibit exemplary behaviour at all times. Desist from engaging yourselves in politics and keep in mind your roles as men and women in uniform,” he said.
