UNDER-20 national team midfielder Lubambo Musonda will be available for next Saturday’s 2015 Senegal Africa Youth Championship final round, return leg against Malawi.
Coach Hector Chilombo said in Lusaka yesterday that the Armenia-based Musonda will join the team next Wednesday ahead of the decisive clash set for Nkoloma Stadium.
Musonda missed the first leg in Blantyre last Saturday, which Zambia won 2-1.
The former Power Dynamos midfielder has clinched a one-year contract with Armenian side Ulisses FC.
“Lubambo is coming for the return match against Malawi. We are taking this match very seriously so that we can give Zambians a 50th birthday present by qualifying for the 2015 Africa Youth Championship,†Chilombo said.
On injured defender Benedict Chepeshi, Chilombo said the Red Arrows player is still in Portugal.
“He is still in Portugal. We are told he is still nursing a groin injury,†Chilombo said.
Meanwhile, the junior Chipolopolo yesterday beat Matero United 2-0 in a friendly at Lusaka’s Nkoloma Stadium with Saith Sakala and Patrick Ngoma contributing a goal each.
Chilombo expressed satisfaction with the performance of the players.
“Everyone is working hard in training and the boys know that we are one step to Senegal. We will not underrate Malawi,†Chilombo said.
To reach this stage, Zambia trounced Mozambique 4-0 on aggregate while Malawi edged Democratic Republic of Congo 3-1 over two legs.
