Localise treaty on illicit tobacco trade, State told

THE Centre for Trade Policy and Development (CTPD) has called on Government to continue engaging stakeholders on the domestication of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) to develop advocacy programmes that will help eliminate illicit tobacco trade.
Currently, Zambia has assented to the FCTC, which means that the country is obligated to take steps to reduce tobacco production but has not domesticated the treaty as it is examining the institutional actors in the sector to better understand their roles.
