Dear editor,
TWO years ago I was part of the Zambian delegation that included Government and the private sector that was sponsored to go to China on a fact-finding mission on where our mukula timber goes and what it is used for.
Well, when we came back, we reported everything we learnt and made recommendations of what we could have done as a nation.
Sad that Mr Bwalya has since died (MHSRIP). He was a gallant fighter of transparency in the timber trade. Many of us lost our investment due to policy changes that never put into consideration our plight as local investors.
Many Zambians who genuinely invested in the trade lost everything.
Many have since died and many others continue to languish in poverty as they have never recovered a single dime ever since.
We pray that one day justice will prevail.
KUMBUKILANI PHIRI
