Livingstone MP urged to work with council

SHIKANDA KAWANGA, Livingstone
SOUTHERN Province Minister Edify Hamukale has urged Livingstone member of Parliament Matthews Jere to work closely with the Livingstone City Council (LCC) to repair the damaged bridges in the city.

Dr Hamukale said the LCC should use the Constituency Development Funds (CDF) to rehabilitate the Libuyu-Maramba bridge and other bridges as the infrastructure is significant to the economy of the tourist capital.

Dr Hamukale said his office has received numerous complaints about the state of the Libuyu-Maramba bridge, and that it is important that the local authority acts on the matter urgently.
He was speaking recently when he interacted with marketeers and inspected the bridge.
Dr Hamukale noted that hotels, lodges, shopping malls, and other business entities in Livingstone rely on agricultural products from Libuyu, and that repairing the bridge would lower the cost of food in the city and help attract more tourists.
