PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has challenged the business community and mining houses to partner and revive the once vibrant engineering companies on the Copperbelt. The President said engineering companies were the backbone of the mining industry back in the 1970s and 80’s but because of free market policies, the industrial areas became deserted. “I want to encourage mining houses and the business community to work together and come up with proposals of reviving the local engineering support base for our mining industry,” he said.
