Let’s maintain sugar producer position

ZAMBIA should solidify its position as one of Africa’s largest sugar producer by taking advantage of the prospects that will be presented by the establishment of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).Ecobank Research Centre, which is part of the Ecobank Group, is dedicated to providing the highest quality research for clients to help them navigate the complex African marketplace.
Zambia Sugar Plc is currently the second largest sugar producer within the Illovo Sugar Group, producing about 450,000 tonnes annually and exports to the Great Lakes region.
Ecobank head of group research Edward George said as the continent moves towards a single market, which will facilitate the easy movement of goods, services and people, Zambia needs to take advantage of that opportunity to trade more in sugar and other agricultural produce.
