Lecturer nabbed for defilement

POLICE in Petauke have arrested a 30-year-old lecturer at Ukwimi Trades and Vocational Training Institute for allegedly defiling a minor.
Eastern Province commissioner of Police Alex Chilufya named the suspect as Jabes Mushanga.

Mr Chilufya said in an interview yesterday that Mushanga committed the crime on April 2 this year around 23:00 hours.
Mr Chilufya said Mushanga, who is alleged to have repeatedly defiled the minor, is detained at Peteuke Police Station and will appear in court soon.
And Mr Chilufya said police in Chadiza have arrested a 32-year-old man for allegedly murdering his former wife.
Mr Chilufya named the suspect as Alfred Phiri of Kambwayo village in Chief Mwangala’s area.
He said Phiri has confessed having murdered Mailesi Banda, 35, of Chambuli village in the same chiefdom.
Mr Chilufya said Banda’s body was found about 500 metres from her house.
