MIKE MUGALA, Lusaka
THE Lusaka City Council (LCC) has summoned over 50 bar, nightclub and restaurant owners in Lusaka for a consultative meeting on underage
drinking that is spiralling out of control in the city.
LCC public relations officer Brenda Katongola said in an interview that the meeting, scheduled for Tuesday is aimed at coming up with solutions for the vice.
She has also urged the Church, parents and guardians to ensure that they take full responsibility of their children to protect them from misconduct.
Ms Katongola said LCC cannot eradicate underage drinking without support of parents and the Church.
“We are fully aware that these young people patronising drinking places belong to the Church and come from homes. We, therefore, appeal to both the Church and parents to ensure that they closely monitor the behaviour of these children,” she said.
