IT IS an undisputable fact that our prisons have people serving sentences not because they are guilty but because they could not afford proper legal presentation.
How many people can afford to pay K444.30 or K1,998.30 per hour to a lawyer? Only the well-to-do would afford the astronomical legal fees.
It is for this reason that I am appealing to the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) to educate the masses on the provision of legal services on pro bono (free) basis. It’s time to make justice accessible to both the rich and the poor.
