LAFARGE Plc last week was the top performer after the Lusaka Securities Exchange closed at over K4.2 million in turnover.
Of the K4,212,429 total value of turnover, less than K3 million was shared among 14 companies that participated in the 321 trades on the local bourse.Lafarge Plc posted the largest chunk of over K1.14 million, surpassing the total from the previous week’s turnover of K9,991. The rise in overall turnover for last week entails that the local bourse witnessed increased market activity. “In the week ended 16th July 2021, a total of 8,321,400 shares were transacted in 321 trades. “This is compared to a total of 505,409 shares transacted in 31 trades, yielding a market turnover of K659,251 in the week ended July 9, 2021,” according to the LuSE weekly news stock. Lafarge , whose share price was at K11.01in 26 trades, topped the chart at K1,142,368, followed by the Real Estate Investments Zambia Plc at K1,015,551 while Copperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC) and Zambeef Products posted K417,947 and K308,383 respectively. Other companies which participated but their turnover was below K300,000 were Airtel, Madison Finance Services, National Breweries, Pamodzi Hotel, Puma, Standard Chartered Zambia, Zambia Metal Fabricators (ZAMEFA), Zanaco, ZCCM-Investment Holdings, Zambia Sugar and CEC Africa.
