THE Kitwe City Council has closed 40 more business houses in the central business district for allegedly operating without licences, fire certificates and health permits.

On Wednesday, officers of the local authority swooped on shop owners for compliance of trading guidelines and shut down 30 shops whose owners were allegedly flouting the laws.

A similar exercise was conducted on Friday and 40 shops were shut down.
