Killing of 2 tourists by elephant sad

Dear editor,
THE trampling and killing of two European tourists by an elephant in Livingstone recently is sad indeed.

This is much more so that we are trying to build our tourism profile.
While it is understood that accidents are not predictable, the incident in Livingstone should be a wake-up call for all lodge owners to advice their visitors accordingly.
As a matter of urgency, the moment the visitors arrive, they should be taken through a safety talk. They need to be reminded on the fact that animals are untamed and therefore unpredictable.
Whatever lodge owners need to do to ensure the safety of their clients must be done without hesitation.
My heart goes out to the families of the two tourists. It is a traumatic death for them, which will be difficult to get over.
