Kenya’s veep donates to Kasisi Childrens’ Home

HILDAH MWAPE, Lusaka
KENYA’S vice-president William Ruto has donated US$20,000 to Kasisi Children’s Home.
The donation was made on his behalf by Kenya’s high commissioner to Zambia, Sophy Kombe in Lusaka last week.
Mr Ruto promised to donate US$20,000 to Kasisi Children’s Home when he visited Zambia last December.
And Kasisi Children’s Home sister-in-charge Mariola Mierzejewska said upon receiving the donation that half of the money will go towards a study fund to cover school fees.
She said the orphanage is keeping many children and a donation like this goes a long way.
“Out of 250 children, 110 are in both tertiary and secondary schools,” sister Mierzejewska said.
Sr Mariola said the balance will be channelled to improve the water system and buy books for the library at the school.
She is grateful to the Kenyan government for the donation made towards the Kasisi Children’s Home.
