KONKOLA Copper Mine (KCM) has set aside US$27 million to restore the Chingola and Mushishima stream to refurbish the tailing leach plant (TLP) and repair damaged soils.
Under the project, before restoration of activities start, KCM TLP plant facilities will be upgraded and the process is already in progress.
According to the environmental impact assessment (EIA) report submitted to the Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA) yesterday, KCM will also construct a new catchment pond with an 18,000 cubic metres capacity within the TPL area.
