KCM shuts smelter

KONKOLA Copper Mines (KCM) has shut down its Nchanga smelter in Chingola for 40 days to pave way for maintenance works.
KCM will spend US$13 million on the smelter’s bi-annual maintenance works.
KCM has taken this opportunity to erect and commission a new electro-static precipitator (ESP) – a component which cleans furnace gas loaded with dust after passing through the boiler.
This will result in a 35 percent rise in production, which in turn will result in improved cash flows for KCM.READ MORE
