KCM dumps Konkola Mine Police

HONE SIAME, Kitwe
KONKOLA Copper Mines (KCM) Plc has withdrawn sponsorship from demoted Konkola Mines Police Football Club.
The Chililabombwe outfit was last season relegated to the lower division alongside Roan United, Kabwe Warriors and Indeni.
Impeccable sources at Konkola Mine Police confirmed in Chililabombwe yesterday that the mining firm has withdrawn its sponsorship for the club following the team’s demotion to the lower division.
Sources said club management has already been informed on the matter.
“I must confirm that KCM will not be sponsoring our team the coming season. This is a sad development for us and will make it very difficult for our team to bounce back to the Super Division,” the source said.
KCM also sponsors Super Division Nchanga Rangers, Konkola Blades and Division One (South) side Nampundwe.
Meanwhile, five players that were on loan at Konkola Mine Police have been released.
The players include defenders Louis Musonda, Warren Kunda, midfielders Hosea Sinyangwe, Felix Simukonda and striker Clement Mwape.
Efforts to get a comment from KCM spokesperson Shapi Shacinda proved futile as his mobile phone was off.
