ZAMBIAN Lotto, which is today expected to give out the highest jackpot of over K3.7 million to a Kasama winner, has in the last seven years paid out over K20 million.
To date, 47 individuals have scooped jackpots amounting to K22 million.
In an interview on Monday, Zambian Lotto director Marwan El-Kamand said the company will give out the jackpot, which is the highest to be won in Zambia.
“On Monday, Susan Zulu, 32, of Kasama [who is a] business entrepreneur, won the first-ever highest Lotto jackpot of K3, 735,400, beating the previous K2.8 million that was won last year.
“From 2009 to date, we have given out K22 million to 47 jackpot winners only, this money has impacted positively on people’s lives which has enabled them to set up and expand their own businesses,” Mr El-Kamand said.
He said although the jackpot has been won, there is still another prize, which stands at K1 million.
Mr El-Kamand said the firm is committed to empower the local people by providing opportunities to play lotto, which has transformed various lives since inception.
“My only appeal to the public is to never lose hope…Continue playing lotto as it is a continuous game of luck,” he said.
In a separate interview, Zambian Lotto jackpot winner Mrs Zulu expressed happiness for being the first winner of the largest prize in the Zambia Lottery history.
“I have been playing lotto for the last three years and I will use part of the money to invest in the real estate sector, as well as assist some family members financially,” she said.
Mrs Zulu only bought four tickets worth K20 which has earned her a fortune.
