Kasama Airport to be completed next year

KALONDE NYATI, Lusaka
CONSTRUCTION of the K144 million Kasama Airport is expected to be completed in July 2017, Northern Province Minister Brian Mundubile has disclosed.
Mr Mundubile said once complete, the airport will boost tourism in the province endowed by various tourist attractions.
He said in an interview last week when Ministers of Finance Felix Mutati, Infrastructure and Housing Ronald Chitotela and Transport and Communication Brian Mushimba carried an on-the spot-check on construction works in the Province.
“Large aircrafts will land on this airport and will supplement the traffic at the Kasaba bay airport, which is also being constructed,” he said.
Mr Mundubile said the airport being constructed by Ngandu Consultant, will also boost investments in agriculture and other activities around commerce, trade and industry.
Speaking in a separate interview, Ngandu Consultant resident engineer Witika Chileshe said earth works are currently underway.
“We are on course and we will hand over the airport in July next year,” he said.
