CHAMBO NG’UNI, Luano
CHIEF Kanyesha of Luano district has appealed to the Ministry of Home Affairs to build two police posts to enhance the fight against crime.
The traditional leader said some people are taking advantage of the lack of security in his chiefdom to commit crimes.
He said in an interview recently that in Tuyu, a businessman of Lusaka was killed by suspected robbers who also stole K23,000 cash from him.
The same criminals are also suspected to have attacked two women of Lusaka from whom they stole three mobile phones valued at K1,600.
“Our lives are in danger because crime is going up. Recently, a man from Lusaka was killed and this is a very unfortunate development,” Chief Kanyesha said.
The traditional leader said he wants his people and those who visit his chiefdom to feel safe.
Chief Kanyesha also urged Government to send police officers to Mboroma Police Station with adequate vehicles for them to effectively carry out their duties.
“Lack of transport for the police is one of the major problems we are facing here. I am appealing to the government to give our police officers vehicles,” he said.
Chief Kanyesha urged his subjects to be peaceful, alert and be on the lookout for suspected criminal elements.
