LIGHT flyweight Chester Simpungwe has been dropped from the provisional national team after losing to Bwalya Lumbwe in the Midlands Amateur Boxing Association tournament at Lusaka Showgrounds yesterday.
Simpungwe became the first victim to be dropped from the 14-member provisional squad preparing for the 2015 Congo Brazzaville All-Africa Games after losing 3-0 to Lumbwe.
National team coach Kennedy Kanyanta said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that Simpungwe failed to meet expectations.
Kanyanta said Lumbwe will be in the team that will compete at the African Federations Boxing Championship in Morocco from August 15 to 22.
