KANYAMA member of Parliament Elizabeth Phiri says Government will soon begin the construction of one of the biggest hospitals in Zambia in Kanyama constituency.
Ms Phiri said the big hospital would be in Garden House area with a bed space of over 1,000.
She said this in an interview yesterday.
“The contractor is already on site and very soon modalities will be put in place to begin construction,†she said.
Ms Phiri said the hospital will be named after any prominent Zambian who has contributed to the development of the country.
Meanwhile, Ms Phiri says she is impressed that no case of cholera has been reported in the constituency.
“When I was campaigning, one of my promises was that I would eradicate cholera from Kanyama. I made sure that garbage which has been piling in Kanyama for over 30 years was removed and the results are showing,†he said.
And Ms Phiri said Kanyama would be developed by the time she leaves office.
“I have embarked on the construction of township roads through partnerships with cooperating partners. We have already done roads in John Laing, Mbasela road in old Kanyama and Bonaventure,†she said.
Ms Phiri said Kanyama is very rich and houses most of the industries in Lusaka and should therefore not lack in resources.
“We are in the heart of town and therefore I am appealing to the investors in the area to give back to the community by assisting in any way possible,†she said.
