Kantanshi dominates

KANTANSHI Tennis Club dominated the prestigious Ess Bee Maxwell Sichula national tennis tournament with Zambia’s top ranked female player Natasha Chewe scooping the under–16 girls title after overcoming Natasha Nalungwe in an exciting final.
The 16-year-old Mufulira -based player, fondly called Toto by her peers, lived up to her status as the country’s number one as she eased to a straight sets victory of 6-2, 6-2 over her club mate.
Interesting, Sichula was one of the founders of Kantanshi Tennis Club, which went on to be dominant force on the local front in the 70s.
In the under–18 category, it was again a all-Mufulira final with Emmy Chewe defeating Faith Mwewa 6-3, 6-1 while former Zimbabwe-based Nkumbutso Ngulube, overcame Blessings Ngulube of Lusaka, in the under–12 category.
