Kansanshi Mine copper output up

MINERS processing copper at one of the mines on the Copperbelt.

KANSANSHI Mine has recorded an increase in copper production to over 63,000 tonnes in the third quarter of the year from about 58,000 tonnes in the same period last year because of higher mineral recoveries at the mine.
The company also recorded an increase at the Sentinel mine to 56, 426 tonnes from 53,533 tonnes in the same period.
Both mines are subsidiaries of the First Quantum Minerals. High copper production can be attributed to higher production and recoveries at Kansanshi, Sentinel and its Guelb Moghrein Mine in Mauritania, according the firm’s financial results for the third quarter
