THERE is a temptation to look at Kelvin Kampamba with envy, if not hate, by Nkana after he ditched them to join rivals Zesco United, with whom he won the league title on Sunday. But Kampamba is also rooting for his former side to survive the drop. “They will survive, they will not go down,” Kampamba said of Nkana, who are in danger of ending their nine-year stay in the top flight despite having started the season as league champions.
Kampamba says it is a “bit regretful” that he left his beloved Nkana for Zesco but is happy that his ambitions of collecting silverware are being met, with the Ndola side on Sunday clinching their ninth league title after a 2-0 win over NAPSA Stars in which the midfielder contributed a goal.
Kampamba joined Zesco this season from Nkana, where he won the Super League title last season, his second at Nkana with the first having been in 2013 in his maiden season in the top flight. “As a player sometimes you need also to have targets,” the Chipolopolo midfielder said. “I did my part with Nkana and now it is time to do with Zesco.
