BUTTYSON KANDIMBA, Solwezi
MINISTER of Youth and Sport Chishimba Kambwili has appealed to youths countrywide not to be used to perpetrate violence during campaigns ahead of the January 20 presidential election.
Mr Kambwili urged youths to reject violence and to instead use dialogue to resolve differences.
“As you are aware, the country goes to the poll on January 20, 2015 and I, therefore, appeal to you the Zambian youth that you should at all costs reject violent politicians as they are capable of setting the country on fire,†he said.
The minister said this in Solwezi on Monday when he addressed youths shortly after handing over 40 cheques worth K1 million under Youth Development Fund (YDF).
Mr Kambwili urged young people to jealously guard the peace the country is enjoying by refraining from violence ahead of the poll.
He also pleaded with youths to vote for Patriotic Front (PF) candidate Edgar Lungu for continued economic stability.
Mr Kambwili explained that the PF administration has approached many investors who are willing to set up businesses in Zambia in order to create jobs for the youth.
He warned that the change of Government would bring about political instability and scare away investors.
He said the PF government cares for young people as evidenced by the increase in the budgetary allocation to youth empowerment programmes and should be given chance to implement them.
