Kachinga selects 37 for COSAFA Cup

KACHINGA

SYLVESTER CHISHIMBA, Lusaka
NATIONAL women’s team coach Albert Kachinga has summoned 37 players for the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Championship billed for

next month in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
Kachinga said in a statement released by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) in Lusaka yesterday that the team needs to work hard to emulate their male counterparts who have recently excelled in regional tournaments.
“The ladies must take a leaf from the under-20 and 17 that are reigning regional champions while the senior team reached the final at the 2017 edition. A precedent has been set with the under-20 boys who got the COSAFA and won the Africa Cup to qualify for the World Cup.
“The under-17 brought in the COSAFA Cup and the senior men’s team went as far as the final. So we have to make sure that we work hard. We are not looking at anything less than the final. It is easier said than done, we need to put in a lot of hard work,” Kachinga said.
The She-polopolo are camped at Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) in Lusaka.
The COSAFA Women’s Championship has attracted 11 teams.
