NATIONAL women team coach Albert Kachinga has dropped midfielder Mary Mwakapila ahead of Saturday’s Africa Women Championship first round return leg against Namibia.
Kachinga, who selected 18 players before departure for Windhoek, roped in midfielder Milika Limwanya in place of Mwakapila.
Limwanya was not part of the She-polopolo side that beat Namibia 3-1 at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka on March 6.
“We have only made one change from the team that played the first leg. We have brought in Milika for a simple reason that we need strong and tall midfielders looking at the height of the Namibians. We thought Milika could help. She was in the terraces during the first leg,” said Kachinga at a briefing in Lusaka yesterday.
Kachinga, who declared his side ready for battle, said Zambia will treat Namibia cautiously.
“Namibia will throw everything to us and we have to be wary with how we tackle them. We will play a cautious game. The team is prepared both physically and psychologically,” he said.
And vice-captain Emeldah Musonda said the players will not be intimidated by Namibia’s massive home support.
“We are not going for the crowd, our focus will be on the pitch and not the terraces. We have been there before and we know how it is. I have told my colleagues to forget the crowd and concentrate on what will be happening on the pitch,” she said.
The team:
Goalkeepers: Catherine Musonda, Hazel Nali

Midfielders: Milika Limwanya, Rhodah Chileshe, Misozi Zulu, Mary Wilombe, Barbara Banda, Esther Mukwasa, Ireen Lungu.
Strikers: Noria Sosala, Grace Chanda and Hellen Mubanga.
