Kabompo dip tanks ready soon

CONSTRUCTION of three dip tanks in Kabompo at a cost of K480,000 is expected to be completed next month, district agriculture co-ordinator (DACO) Peter Chibizwa has said.
Mr Chibizwa said in an interview on Wednesday that the dip tanks will help fight animal diseases and boost the livestock sector in the area.
“The dip tanks have come at a right time and will help reduce tick-borne diseases in the district,” he said.
He said tanks and other auxiliary structures have already been erected and the facilities will be ready for use next month.
“We hope that within a month, we shall be done because all the major works have been completed and what is remaining are just final touches,” he said.
Mr Chibizwa said the growth of the livestock population in the district has been hampered by animal diseases.
He said Kabompo has a lot of tick-borne diseases which affect cattle.
Government allocated over K3.2 million in this year’s budget for the construction of 22 dip tanks in all districts of North-Western Province.
