GOVERNMENT has released K6.8 million to Mumbwa in Central Province for the payment of outstanding arrears to over 3,270 beneficiaries under the social cash transfer programme.
Mumbwa District Commissioner Felix Ndopu said in an interview that the accumulation of arrears was necessitated by the omissions of some beneficiaries during the registration process.
“The district has received K6,835,773.00 to settle the arrears for July to December last year. The delay in paying the beneficiaries was due to a few omissions during registration and validation process,” Mr Ndopu said.
He said all the problems have been resolved, and that the beneficiaries will start receiving their money this month.
