ZAMBIA projects to raise over K380 million from the sale of 120,000 tonnes of cotton expected to be harvested this year.
Last year, 55,000 tonnes of cotton was produced, realising over K200 million.
Cotton Board of Zambia (CBZ) executive director Dafulin Kaonga said only 55,000 tonnes of cotton was produced during the 2016/2017 farming season due to drought that affected some parts of the country.
The increase in the output this year is due to marginal rise in market price of K3.70 per kilogramme (kg) from K3.20 per kg.
Mr Kaonga said cotton on the international commodity market is fetching about US$1.83 per kg http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
