GOVERNMENT has released K2.1 million towards the construction of phase two of Lundazi district hospital.
Eastern Province clinical care specialist Charles Fanaka said this is out of the K3.1 million allocated for the project.
Dr Fanaka said in an interview that the construction of the hospital is nearing completion.
“The first phase was recently completed, leaving the second, third and final phase,” Dr Fanaka said.
He further disclosed that Chipata and Nyimba district hospitals are still in the first phase of construction.
Dr Fanaka said administration blocks for both hospitals are at ring beam level while the out-patient department (OPD) is at slab level.
He expressed satisfaction at works carried out on the projects so far.
“The contractors have begun to work on the X-ray departments at both hospitals,” he said.
