Letter to the Editor

I’ve changed my position on Nyirenda

Dear editor,
I AM one of those who requested for the removal of Chipolopolo Gaffer, Nyirenda for poor performance.

I, however, want to retract my request and commend him and the FAZ executive for the recent victories recorded in both the CHAN games and most importantly in the world cup encounters with Algeria.
It seems the team was all along begging for the injection of the wonder boys from both the Under-20 and the CHAN squads who have demonstrated incredible motivation for success. Even if we do not qualify for the world cup, the important thing is that we now have a solid and formidable squad.
I make special mention of the young players in Daka, Mwila, Mwepu and Mulenga who put up stellar performances in the back to back games against Algeria. Save for the unfortunate sending off, Fashion remains my favourite player because of his fighting spirit and his goal scoring instincts. He should, hence, continue to be an integral member of the squad.
The youthful players blended well with veteran players whom we are also proud of and should, hence, keep on mentoring and encouraging the young lads.
Mulenga has potential to score a lot of goals because of his speed and trickery. However, he must balance power with accuracy. Sometimes, it is not necessary to solely rely on power when simple placement of the ball in the net can do the trick.
