ELIZABETH CHATUVELA, Mongu
SIOMA member of Parliament Mbololwa Sibulwa has urged people in her constituency to support President Lungu and his government.
Ms Sibulwa says there is need to support President Lungu’s efforts in developing the country, especially that time for politicking is long gone.
The independent legislator, who is touring her constituency, said this in a posting on her Facebook page.
“Still touring my constituency, having meetings with different stakeholders, especially my indunas.
“I am trying to explain to my people that the time for politicking is long gone. Instead, this is the time to work and concentrate on developing our constituency and Zambia as a whole.
“We need to render full support to President Edgar Lungu and his government because without this, I cannot fulfil my campaign promises. I want to look back after my term of office and say ‘yes, I did this for my people and they should also not regret voting for me’,” she said.
And Ms Sibulwa said much as her core business is seeing to it that there is development in her constituency, she is also going round explaining to the people that there is no state of emergency in the country as portrayed by some people.
“Article 31 of the Constitution was invoked in order to ensure that peace prevails.
“I’m preaching peace and unity because they are essential for development, and every well-meaning Zambian knows that peace and unity are cardinal,” she said.
Meanwhile, Ms Sibulwa last week donated sports kit to Nangweshi Primary School and toured the construction site for a basketball court at Nangweshi Secondary School.
She has also pledged to improve infrastructure at Mutomena Day Secondary School before the end of her term of office in 2021.
