‘It’s time to get down to work’

Dear editor,
I WRITE to first join others in congratulating His Excellency President Edgar Chagwa Lungu on his re-election as President of this great Republic of Zambia, and secondly to appeal to the nation at large that it is time to get on with work.
So much may have happened in the run-up to the elections, and some time may have been wasted which otherwise could have been used in moving the country forward.
There are indeed a lot of pressing issues that the country is faced with, and it is in the best interest of us as a people that will pre-occupy ourselves with resolving these challenges, and building a strong foundation which will spur this country to great lengths.
Undoubtedly, overcoming the socio-economic challenges that the country is facing will not be easy. It will require some determination and resilience on the part of everyone, and indeed patience on the part of the citizenry. I would like to appeal, therefore, to the President to waste no time in getting his hands dirty as he tries to steer the country to another level.
Lastly, I would like to appeal to the relevant authorities to ensure that modern structures are built in Chilanga to go with its newly-acquired status as a district. These structures must include shops, markets and indeed offices for the district council.
