HOTEL Intercontinental and Manzi Valley has donated K110,000 towards the hosting of the Automotive Equipment Zambia International Rally revving off next Friday in Lusaka.
And Vice-President Inonge Wina will be guest of honour at the Super Special Stage set for National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.
Hotel Intercontinental has offered 17 rooms valued at K100,000 while Manzi Valley donated cases of water worth K10,000.
Manzi Valley sales and marketing manager Jason Thornicroft said at a briefing in Lusaka yesterday that the company is committed to supporting the event.
“Our sponsorship package is for the calendar year. But should there be need for more support apart from what we have offered. We will be there to offer our support,†Thornicroft said.
Zambia Motor Sport Association vice-president Sam Ching’ambu said with the donation the two organisations, the organising committee has raised K410,000.
The budget is K500,000.
Ching’ambu is confident the K90,000 shortfall will be met.
Meanwhile, FIA officials and foreign drivers are expected to start arriving in the country next Tuesday.
Over 29 drivers will compete for honours in the ARC event.
The 560km event, which is the third round of the continental championship and the third round of the National Rally Championship will run from May 15 to 17.
