Inonge assures TAP ex-workers

VICE-PRESIDENT Inonge Wina has assured former workers of TAP Building Products that Government will look into their plight.
Mrs Wina said that she will present their problems following the closure of the company to President Lungu.
The Vice-President said this in Lusaka’s Freedom township yesterday when drumming up support for Patriotic Front (PF) candidate Lawrence Sichalwe for the forthcoming Chawama parliamentary by-election.
One of the workers, Jeff Phiri, appealed to Government to help them resolve their problems because they have gone for seven months without pay.
Mr Phiri contends that the company is viable and yet it has been closed due to what he alleged as poor management.
And a representative of the residents, Regina Chimba, asked Government to help compel the company sell the houses to the former TAP employees who are sitting tenants.
Meanwhile, Mrs Wina has appealed to the electorate in Chawama to vote for Mr Sichalwe in the by-election to allow Government to complete development projects.
“You have given us a president, please give us an MP,’’ she said.
The Chawama parliamentary seat fell vacant after the Member of Parliament, Edgar Lungu, was elected President in the January 20 presidential election.
