BELGIUM-BASED striker Fashion Sakala has been ruled out of Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mozambique in Maputo due to an injury.
Sakala, who was recalled after missing the last game against Guinea-Bissau, is reported to have picked up an injury during his Belgian side KV Oostende’s 2-0 defeat in their Jupiler Pro League encounter away at Royal Antwerp last Friday.
The Zambian striker, who is one of the 14 foreign-based players in Sven Vandenbroeck’s squad, came in as a second-half substitute for his club when he sustained the injury.
Sakala was expected to join camp on Sunday alongside his Oostende team-mate Emmanuel Banda, who joined the team in Johannesburg the same evening.
Other foreign-based players that have joined camp include the South Africa-based legion of skipper Kennedy Mweene, Justine Shonga, Augustine Mulenga and Salulani Phiri.
