Zambia, China 50-year relations cemented

ZAMBIA and China have for the past 50 years enjoyed cordial relations that were cultivated by the two countries’ founding fathers. Relations between the two countries date back to 1964 when Zambia independence from British rule.

Chinese Veep ends visit on a high

AFTER a three-day fruitful visit to Zambia, Chinese Vice-President Li Yuanchao yesterday left the country for Tanzania, where he will continue his tour of duty.
And Dr Li on Friday handed over 30 computers and two buses worth US$100,000 to the National Project for Poverty Reduction (NPPR) on behalf of the China Foundation for Peace and Development (CFPD).

Access roads construction set for July 1

CONSTRUCTION of access roads at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka is scheduled to begin by July 1 this year.
Musunka Silungwe, a technocrat at the Ministry of Transport, Works, Supply and Communications, said, when Chinese Vice-President Li Yuanchao toured the facility on Thursday, that preparations for the construction of access roads are on course.

Zambia, China seal 8 deals

Zambia and China yesterday signed eight agreements on Chinese loans and grants on bilateral and economic relations.
The agreements include an economic and technical cooperation accord for a grant of US$32 million and an economic and technical cooperation of US$32 million of interest-free loan.
