IT IS not every day that you hear political leaders responding to social problems of national importance but President Sata has done so in the raping and killing of the 12-year-old Chibombo girl.
This is commendable as he is being proactive in the fight against gender-based violence and other social crimes.

THE rate at which cases of gender-based violence and child defilement are occurring in Zambia leaves much to be desired.
There is urgent need for all interested parties – government, non-governmental organisations, law enforcement agencies as well as the learned men and women of the bench – to seriously get to the drawing board and come up with practical solutions to curtail the scourge.
