THE rate at which cases of gender-based violence and child defilement are occurring in Zambia leaves much to be desired. There is urgent need for all interested parties – government, non-governmental organisations, law enforcement agencies as well as the learned men and women of the bench – to seriously get to the drawing board and come up with practical solutions to curtail the scourge.

LAST week the Zambia National Farmers Union complained that there has been a spate of robberies targeted at the farming community in the recent past since the police command directed that all roadblock be removed.

IT IS undisputable that Zambia has for a long time been searching for a constitution which will stand the test of time.

AS we welcome Stella Libongani to the top cop position of Inspector-General, we also wish to commend her predecessor, Martin Malama for his dedication to duty. We are not the appointing or ‘disappointing’ authority but Dr Malama demonstrated that some bad habits of the Police Service can be reduced, if not eradicated.
