Indeni to purify oil

INDENI Petroleum Refinery has imported a neutraliser to help consume organic chloride impurities contained in the country’s crude oil feedstock and to reduce corrosion of machinery.
In an interview yesterday, Indeni managing director Maybin Noole confirmed the importation but said the plant is not operating at full capacity.
“From time to time, you have these kind of problems. We will hopefully be able to deal with these kinds of issues better,” Mr Noole said.
The refinery will only operate at full capacity once the organic chloride is fully flushed out.
“When this is done, the pipelines will start receiving the 90,000 metric tonnes of the right crude oil that the refinery has already bought,” he said.
