Increase awareness of digital platforms – Stanbic

MIKE MUGALA, Lusaka
STANBIC Bank says there is need to increase awareness of digital platforms such as mobile banking, internet banking and online payment of tax to make banking simpler and easier.
In response to a press query, Stanbic Bank  acting head of corporate investment banking Helen Lubamba  said banking has gone  digital with  most  services  being  offered online.
“The online tax payment solution will enable banks provide  their customers with faster and easy access to payment platforms, thus making clearing of goods and services much faster, efficient, secure and cost- effective,’’ she  said.
Ms Lubamba said through e-tax payment services, Stanbic demonstrates the value it provides to its clients by offering solutions that improve the ease of doing business in Zambia by reducing the cost and improving on efficiency.
“Customers are appreciating the efficiency, convenience of paying taxes electronically and the continuity of business operations over the weekends and public holidays,’’she said.
Ms Lubamba said the e- tax payment system has continued to show stability and user confidence is improving by the day.
“Transaction volumes have continued to increase as clients get accustomed to the e-tax payment platform. Client interest in using the system has continued to go up,’’ she said.
Ms. Lubamba said the e-tax platform is steadily becoming a payment method of choice for clients and the response has so far been overwhelming.
“The number of clients taking up the system has continued to grow as clients get a better feel of the system,’’ she said.
Ms Lubamba said Stanbic expects to attract many clients considering that the bank is also launching domestic tax payment platform this year.
“We expect more system stability with the planned enhancements by both the ZRA [Zambia Revenue Authority] and the bank,’’ she said.
